eSIM Reviews from Real Travelers
These reviews come from travelers who used eSIMs on actual trips. We do not accept payment for reviews or allow providers to influence ratings. Each review includes a practical tip for your own trip.
What to look for when reading eSIM reviews
Coverage quality
Does the review mention specific regions or cities? Providers perform very differently across urban vs rural areas.
Activation experience
How easy was it to set up? Issues at activation (not at purchase) are the most common traveler complaint.
Support quality
If something went wrong, was the provider responsive? Support speed matters most when you are already abroad.
Plan vs actual usage
Does the reviewer mention what they actually used the data for? This helps you judge whether the same plan suits your needs.

Airalo10 GB Japan plan

Flawless in Tokyo — even in rural Kyoto
Used Airalo for 2 weeks in Japan and it worked flawlessly. 5G in Tokyo, solid 4G everywhere else including rural Kyoto temple districts. Activation took under 5 minutes. Will use for every trip going forward.
Tip
Install the day before you fly so activation is done before you board.

Drove through 4 countries — never lost signal
Drove through France, Spain, Portugal and Italy over 3 weeks. Holafly unlimited plan held up the entire time. Never had to top up or worry about running out. Saved about €60 vs my mobile carrier roaming plan.
Tip
Holafly does not allow hotspot — use your physical SIM for laptop tethering.

NomadSE Asia regional 3 GB

Best value for SE Asia
Nomad gave me great value for a 3 GB regional plan covering both Thailand and Vietnam. The speeds were excellent in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City. The app is clean and easy to manage. Saved a significant amount over roaming.
Tip
For SE Asia covering 2+ countries, always choose a regional plan over separate country plans.

AiraloMiddle East 5 GB plan

Great in the cities — patchy in rural Saudi
Good coverage in Dubai and Abu Dhabi — solid 5G throughout. Had some issues in rural Saudi but that is expected even with local SIMs. Customer support responded quickly when I had a setup question.
Tip
In the Middle East, always check that your plan explicitly covers both countries — not all do.

5G everywhere — fastest speeds I have ever seen
Yesim in Korea was incredible. 5G everywhere — even on the subway. Speeds I have never seen on a travel eSIM. The virtual number is a great bonus for receiving verification codes when apps think you are abroad.
Tip
Korea has among the fastest mobile networks in the world — any decent eSIM will perform well here.

AiraloIsrael 3 GB plan

Connected immediately landing at Ben Gurion
Perfect for Israel. Connected immediately after landing at Ben Gurion airport — no fiddling in arrivals. Used it for Google Maps and WhatsApp all week without any issues. Very affordable for how reliable it was.
Tip
For Israel, 3 GB is plenty for a week of navigation and messaging. You do not need unlimited.

One plan for two countries — great value
Covered both Australia and New Zealand with one plan. 10 GB was enough for a 10-day trip. Telstra network in Australia gave reliable coverage even in the Outback. Highly recommend for a combined AUS/NZ trip.
Tip
A combined AUS+NZ plan is almost always cheaper than two separate plans.

HolaflyLatin America unlimited

Unlimited made the difference in Medellín
Unlimited plan worked great in Mexico City and Medellín — fast enough for video calls and streaming maps on the go. Had some drop-off in remote areas in Colombia but city coverage was excellent. Good value overall.
Tip
Latin America coverage varies widely outside major cities — factor in any rural travel when choosing a plan.
